I have interest in photography from my child hood. But like most of us, camera is to take photos in family events or while traveling. I never knew aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc, though I studied these in my physics classes. Just point the camera and shoot. That’s my exposure to photography till recent past.

One fine day, I tumbled upon Mr. Sudhir Shivaram’s Bird photography website while searching for something on internet. I was amazed for a moment by looking at the photos, but my quick knee jerk reaction was, “Impossible, He might have altered original photos using software tools.” Very convenient for me to think considering my exposure to professional photography and the fact that being a software Architect in an MNC, my belief that anything can be achieved using software. Still one thing that impressed me was the variety of birds and their colors. I know that there are variety of birds but never knew these many. These two things encouraged me to explore further. I searched on internet and further reached the master works of people like Mr. Vijay Cavale and Mr. Clement Francis, I was amazed by the bird photos that unleashed before me. Now I am convinced that there is a different way of taking photos. I spent number of nights in front of my computer reading online tutorials on photography. This journey from “user of camera” to “informed learner of photography” changed my whole attitude towards photography.

Once I started taking bird photos and better photos overall and started sharing with my friends, people around me had similar expression “I never know that these many types of birds exist around us”. This reminds me that there is lack of awareness among most of the people. So, I decided to create awareness about birds and environment in my own small way and hence this website. I am still at the very beginning of my long exciting journey and I am looking forward to it.
