In the winter embrace of Bhigwan, Maharashtra, the grasslands transform into a paradise for raptors and an adventure for those who seek them. The chill of early morning unveiled the elusive Indian grey wolf, its silhouette a whisper against the breaking dawn. The landscape, vast and golden, offered a serene stage for nature's drama to unfold.
Morning with the Grey Wolf
The trip began with an exhilarating encounter. As the sun timidly rose, we spotted the Indian grey wolf traversing the dew-laden grassland. Its presence was both commanding and graceful, a testament to the wild heart of Bhigwan. This unexpected meeting set the tone for our journey, filling our senses with a raw, untamed beauty.

Raptors in the Golden Light
As the day matured, our attention turned skyward. The Pallid Harriers, ethereal in the golden light, settled for roosting amidst the endless grassland. Their pale plumage against the amber backdrop was a dream setting for any photographer. Each evening, the harriers painted an exquisite picture, their presence a quiet symphony of grace and freedom.

Mornings were spent with the magnificent Steppe and Imperial Eagles. Watching them soar and rest on the rocky outcrops was a humbling experience. Their powerful wings sliced through the sky, a reminder of nature's grandeur. These eagles, with their regal demeanor, ruled the skies without contest.

Dance of the Rosy Starlings
One evening, we ventured to the dam's backwaters, where the true spectacle was the murmuration of rosy starlings. Their synchronized flight patterns were mesmerizing, a dance in the sky that held us captive. The children watched, wide-eyed, as the starlings painted abstract patterns against the fading light.
The murmurations were a ballet of the skies, a visual poetry that left us breathless.
Waterside Wonders
The water bodies of Bhigwan offered their own set of delights. The serene presence of gulls and cormorants added a calming contrast to the raptors' fierce energy. Their reflections danced on the water's surface, a tranquil end to our day's exploration.
